Concord, NH — Amy Dickison and Delaney Nadeau never gave the field an opening. After birdieing the opening hole of the championship as the first team to tee off on day one, Dickison and Nadeau took sole possession of the lead and never relinquished it, closing with a 5-under-par 67 on Wednesday to win the Women’s Team Championship at Beaver Meadow Golf Course.
Playing the tournament’s four-ball, best-ball format, the duo finished at 9-under-par 135, seven shots clear of runners-up Julie Rivers and Sharon Hill, who fired a 3-under 69 on the day. Defending champions Beth Hamilton and Mindy Williams finished third at 1-under, while Kristen Diamond and Beth Castantini placed fourth at even par.
With temperatures soaring throughout the final round, Dickison and Nadeau wasted little time building on their overnight four-shot advantage. The pair birdied three of their first five holes before making the turn at 2-under 34. They added birdies on hole 10, 11 and 14 to offset their only bogey of the day, cruising to victory despite challenging conditions.
Nadeau said, “We got off to a fast start, birdieing three of our first five holes. We slowed down a little bit after that; not making putts, but still hitting the ball really well.”
Even after the early birdie barrage slowed, opportunities continued to come. Nadeau commented, “We had legitimate birdie putts on almost every hole.”
Dickison credited the team’s consistent ball striking and Nadeau’s performance on the greens for keeping the momentum going throughout the round. Dickison added “Delaney made some great putts today. We were hitting fairways, and then we were hitting greens.”
Despite carrying the lead from the opening hole of the championship through the final putt, neither player allowed themselves to become consumed by protecting their advantage. Nadeau expressed, “We didn’t even really think about our mindset with the lead. Our mindset all tournament was just to have fun.”
That approach mirrored the one that had put them atop the leaderboard on Tuesday. Dickison questioned “Why change anything about our mindset? We just wanted to do the same thing we did yesterday.”
The strategy paid off. Beginning the championship in the first group off the tee on day one, Dickison and Nadeau announced themselves immediately with an opening-hole birdie and never looked back. They carded rounds of 68 and 67, combining for 11 birdies over the 36-hole championship while posting just two bogeys in the best-ball format.
Rivers and Hill climbed into second place with a final-round 69, while Hamilton and Williams followed with a 71 to finish third. Diamond and Castantini also closed with a 71 to claim fourth.
For Dickison and Nadeau, the championship was defined by steady play, relentless birdie opportunities and a commitment to enjoying the week. From the first swing on Tuesday morning to the final putt Wednesday afternoon, they never surrendered the lead, completing a wire-to-wire victory at Beaver Meadow Golf Course.
