Julianna Megan Clinches Second NH Women’s Amateur Title in Dramatic Finish at Derryfield CC

Posted: July 30, 2025

Manchester, NH – Under pressure and down to the final hole, Julianna Megan held her ground to claim a second New Hampshire Women’s Amateur Championship, fending off Mady Savary by just a single stroke at Derryfield Country Club. The victory, presented by Vigilant Wealth Management, adds to Megan’s first title in 2022 and cements her place as one of the premier amateur players in the Granite State.

Megan entered the final round with a four-shot lead but knew it would take 18 more tough holes to get the job done. “I went into it knowing that it wasn’t anybody’s trophy yet,” said the Holy Cross standout. “I had to grind another 18 holes. I had a rocky start and finish, but through the middle I definitely found a groove.”

The day began with tension, as Megan bogeyed two of her first four holes. But she steadied herself, finding a rhythm with six straight pars from holes 5 through 10, thanks to sharp iron play and consistent ball striking. “It was definitely a marathon,” she said. “I had to take it decision by decision and shot by shot and stay in the moment. I talked to my caddie about everything under the sun to keep my mind off of being nervous.”

Savary, who also finished runner-up in 2024, looked poised to turn the tables. Despite bogeys on three of her first five holes, she fought back hard, making birdies on the 15th and 16th to pull within striking distance. Her steady par and Megan’s bogey on the par-5 17th put her even closer. Her composed back nine performance, capped by a 35 (-1), put the pressure squarely on Megan heading to the 18th tee.

Megan, holding a two-shot lead standing on the final hole, delivered a strong drive but faltered with her approach. “I got a little nervous and quick on my iron shot,” she said. “It’s really not great to miss this green, it’s already a tough finishing hole.” She made double bogey, but it was just enough as Savary carded bogey, finishing the round with a 76 (+6) to Savary’s 72 (+2), the low round of the day.

“I wasn’t keeping track of the score that much,” Megan said. “I just wanted to keep playing how I was playing and make pars, you can’t be mad about a par. I missed a lot of putts that I would have liked to make, but I kept my head down and kept playing.”

Still processing the win, Megan added, “I don’t think it has really sunken in yet but it is super cool to have this feeling again. I’m super excited.”

Behind the thrilling battle at the top, Delaney Nadeau of Cochecho Country Club finished solo third at 226 (+16), followed by Kat Bordeau, who used a strong final round 75 to jump into fourth. A tie for fifth at 234 (+24) included Caroline Fang of Concord Country Club and Josie LeFebvre of Den Brae Golf Course. Rounding out the top 10 were Corey Richardson, Sarah DesRuisseaux, Cassidy Gallant, and Eva Gonzales, all of whom played solid golf across three challenging days at Derryfield.

The 2025 New Hampshire Women’s Amateur once again showcased the talent in the state’s women’s game and was made possible thanks to the support of Vigilant Wealth Management. New Hampshire Golf would also like to extend a thank you to Derryfield Country Club for hosting this championship event.
