Rye, NH – The forecasted rain held off just long enough for the competitors to complete all 54 holes of the New Hampshire Women’s Amateur Championship presented by Vigilant Wealth Management, as cooler temperatures and pleasant conditions greeted players for Wednesday’s final round at Abenaqui Country Club.
After coming up just short with back-to-back runner-up finishes in 2024 and 2025, Mady Savary (Concord Country Club) left no doubt in 2026, capturing her first New Hampshire Women’s Amateur Championship by a commanding 12-shot margin. Savary closed with a final-round 75 to finish at 3-under-par 213, becoming the only player in the field to finish under par for the championship.
Savary entered the day with an 11-shot advantage after rounds of 67 and 71, but the final round presented a different challenge than the first two.
“Today I started out with two bogeys, a little bit of a rough start,” Savary said. “I was getting frustrated out there for sure. And I think that kind of just continued a little bit. I was able to make a birdie in the middle of the front nine and then follow with two bogeys again. So obviously it was a little upsetting that I wasn’t doing as well as the first two days, but I just try to keep an open mind and be like, ‘okay, we still have nine holes left.’”
The steady mindset paid off over the closing stretch. She said, “Thankfully, I was able to manage to shoot even on the back. So, I turned it around and I’m really grateful for that. I found my groove a little bit more, got my swing under control, and was able to make some putts.”
Despite carrying a comfortable lead into the day, Savary still had personal expectations for the final round saying, “My personal goal was to shoot even. So, only three strokes worse than that isn’t too bad. But, I still was able to finish strong, so I’m happy with that.”
The victory caps an exceptional summer for the rising senior, who has continued to build momentum with every event. Earlier this month, she claimed the New Hampshire Girls’ Junior Championship before recording a career-best 67 in the opening round at Abenaqui, surpassing the personal-best 68 she posted during a top-five finish at the World Teen Championship at Pinehurst.
After finishing runner-up the past two years, finally lifting the championship trophy carried extra significance. She stated, “It’s been a long time coming. I was able to put up some good scores this year. I’m super grateful, and I got my personal best this year. So that was also really cool. So, there’s a lot of things to be happy about.”
The win also provides a confidence boost as Savary prepares for the next chapter of her golf career.
“It makes me feel really confident, especially heading into my senior year then college, since I’m committed,” she said. “It just gives me that confidence that I need going into college because that’s a whole different game. But this allows me to know I can score, I can make those putts, hit good shots, and I can hang with some of these college players that are playing here. So that’s really good for my confidence.”
June Doerr (Abenaqui Country Club) put together a consistent championship on her home course, holding steady throughout the final round to secure runner-up honors at 9-over-par 225 after rounds of 76-73-76.
The low round of Wednesday belonged to Josie LeFebvre (Den Brae Golf Course), who fired a 1-under-par 71 to climb into solo third at 12-over-par 228. LeFebvre improved her score in each round of the championship, following an opening 84 with a 73 before closing with Wednesday’s only under-par round.
Kat Bordeau (Canterbury Woods Country Club) finished fourth at 13-over-par 229, while Delaney Nadeau (Cochecho Country Club) and Amy Dickison (Breakfast Hill Golf Club) rounded out the top five at 14-over-par 230.
Although the final day tested Savary’s patience, it ultimately ended with the breakthrough championship she had been chasing. After consecutive runner-up finishes, the trophy finally belongs to one of New Hampshire’s brightest young stars. With a dominant victory and a summer filled with career-best performances, Savary heads into her senior year of high school, and eventually collegiate golf, with plenty of momentum and confidence.
