Cam Salo & Dan Mulkern Shine at Players Invitational, Claim Regular & Senior Division Titles

Posted: June 1, 2025

Newbury, NH – The 2025 Player’s Invitational brought together some of New Hampshire’s top amateur golfers for a thrilling day of competition across both the Regular and Senior Divisions at Baker Hill Golf Club. In blustery conditions and on a course that challenged every part of their games, Came Salo and Dan Mulkern rose to the occasion. Salo captured his first individual NH Golf title with a 1-under 71 in the Regular Division, while Mulkern, also capturing his first individual NH Golf title, matched that score to take home the Senior Division crown, showcasing composure and experience down the stretch.

Regular Division

The Regular Division of the Player’s Invitational wrapped up with a tightly contested leaderboard and a breakthrough performance from Cam Salo of The Shattuck Golf Club, who secured his first individual NH Golf win with an impressive 1-under 71.

Salo navigated the course with poise, capitalizing on a steady game plan and smart decision-making in windy conditions. “I felt like I managed the wind well. My game plan was to just keep it in play, and I felt like I did that well,” said Salo. His discipline and execution paid off as he finished as the only player under par in the Regular Division.

Reflecting on the significance of the win, Salo added, “This is my first individual NH Golf win, so it feels good.”

Course conditions shifted throughout the round, providing an added challenge. “I felt like the green speed shifted from the front to the back nine. They probably dried out a little bit on the back nine with all the wind, so it was tough to get the speed down,” Salo noted.

Trailing just one shot behind was Pat Pelletier of the Golf Garage, who delivered a solid even-par 72 to finish in second place. Harvin Groft of The Oaks claimed third, carding a 74 (+2).  With demanding conditions and a competitive field, the Regular Division proved to be a test of strategy and composure, one that Cam Salo passed with flying colors.

Senior Division

Dan Mulkern of The Golf Club of New England delivered a composed and consistent performance to win the Senior Division at the 2025 Player’s Invitational, firing a 1-under-par 71 to finish as the only player in red numbers in the Senior Division.

Mulkern navigated the course with a strong all-around game, especially off the tee. “My driver was solid, I really only mishit one or two drives, but they weren’t out of play,” he said. “On the front I actually didn’t putt all that well but made one putt. I had a fortunate shot on 11, I got pretty close to an eagle and then just kind of held on. It was tough with the wind out there.”

Despite the swirling breeze, Mulkern praised the course setup and conditions. “The course conditions were fantastic given all the rain we had yesterday,” he noted. His ability to adapt to the conditions and manage the course proved to be the difference.

The win marks a meaningful milestone for Mulkern in a field filled with experienced and competitive players. “It feels great. There’s a lot of great players in New Hampshire, so it feels good to get one,” he said after the round.

Trailing Mulkern by five shots was Eric Emeneau of Souhegan Woods Golf Club, who carded a 76 (+4) to finish in second place. Keith Stone of Pease Golf Course followed closely in third with a 77 (+5), while Peter Keilty of Portsmouth Country Club finished tied for fourth at 80 (+8).

The Senior Division showcased both skill and resilience under testing conditions. Mulkern’s victory sets a strong tone for the remainder of the season and highlights the depth of talent in New Hampshire’s senior golf ranks.
