Manchester, NH – With steady play and back-to-back rounds of 73, Julianna Megan, the 2022 New Hampshire Women’s Amateur Champion and current Holy Cross golfer, leads the field by four shots heading into the final round of the 2025 New Hampshire Women’s Amateur Championship presented by Vigilant Wealth Management at Derryfield Country Club.
Megan sits at 146 (+6) through 36 holes and remains the only player in the field to post back-to-back rounds in the low 70s. Her second round featured a tough front nine stretch, including a double bogey on the par-4 2nd, following by back-to-back bogeys. Despite her trouble on the front nine, she recovered well, highlighted by birdie on the par-3 12th and par-4 16th and finished with a composed 35 on the back.
While Megan is no stranger to being in the winning circle as won in a playoff in 2022 at Concord Country Club, she will need to bring to A-game to the final round to fend off strong competition who have their sights set on catching her.
Delaney Nadeau (Cochecho CC) carded the low round of the tournament, a 2-over 72, to vault into solo second at 150 (+10). Her round included an eagle hole-out on the par-4 6th.
“I got off to a rough start, making a bad bogey on 1 and then kept it together for a little bit,” Nadeau said. “I was up and down on the front, highlighted by an eagle on 6, it was a really good hole-out. On the back, I felt like I was just surviving. I didn’t hit any great shots or horrible shots, I just had to scramble a lot to save pars.”
Nadeau’s back nine was the epitome of consistency when you look at her scorecard. She made eight pars and got away with just one bogey after some key up and down par saves, including one on the closing hole to cap off her 72 (+2) second round.
Nadeau commented on her goals and expectations coming into the championship saying, “The goal is always to win, but I’ve been playing pretty solid golf so I wanted to keep that going and give myself a chance heading into tomorrow. I think tomorrow is about going out to have fun and see how low we can go.”
Mady Savary (Beaver Meadow GC), who sits one shot behind Nadeau at 151 (+11), also stayed in the title hunt with a composed second-round 74. She said, “On the front nine, I played very well. I was very consistent with only one bogey, but it wasn’t a big deal at all,”.
“At the turn, I came back with a birdie”, continued Savary. “I just had a lot of putts on the back nine which is why I shot 39. I think if I can lower that, I’ll be in really good shape for tomorrow.”
Looking ahead, Savary knows the key to closing the gap. “I need to hit fairways and greens and make more putts. If I can transfer those pars into birdies, it will allow me to get ahead,” she said. “My iron striking has been really consistent; it’s just club selection that is kind of throwing me off.”
Savary will have her dad on the bag for the final round to help with those tough club selection decisions. As last year’s runner-up, alongside Megan, Savary knows the feeling of being in the hunt during the final round and will look to capitalize on more birdie opportunities.
Trailing the leaders are Cassidy Gallant of Windham Country Club, who sits at 154 (+14) after rounds of 76–78, and Caroline Fang of Concord Country Club, one stroke behind at 155 (+15). Just behind them are Corey Richardson (Duston CC) and Kat Bordeau (NHGA e-Club), both tied at 156 (+16), followed by Sarah DesRuisseaux (Stonebridge CC) at 157 (+17) and Josie LeFebvre (Den Brae GC) at 159 (+19).
With three players within five shots of the lead, Wednesday’s final round at Derryfield Country Club is shaping up to be a thrilling battle for the state title.
