Past Champions & Emerging Contenders Ready to Tee It Up at Bretwood for 2025 NH Open

Posted: June 17, 2025

Keene, NH – A strong field is set to tee it up for the 2025 New Hampshire Open Championship presented by NBT Bank, held June 19-21 on the North Course at Bretwood Golf Course in Keene. The event returns to one of the most familiar venues in New Hampshire golf, as this year marks the 19th time Bretwood has hosted the prestigious championship—more than any other course in the event’s history.

Among the competitors, three past champions will headline the field and bring added excitement to this year’s tournament. Leading the way is Jason Thresher, the defending champion who also captured the title in 2018. A native of West Suffield, Connecticut, Thresher has become a staple in New England professional golf, with multiple regional victories and a reputation for consistent, high-level play. Known for his steady demeanor and reliable ball-striking, he will look to add a third New Hampshire Open title to his already impressive résumé.

Also returning is Mark Baldwin, the 2006 New Hampshire Open champion and a native of Laconia, NH. A former standout at the University of Notre Dame, Baldwin has competed on the Korn Ferry Tour, PGA Tour Canada, and in several PGA Tour events. Baldwin, who now resides in Arizona with his family, remains one of the most recognizable New Hampshire-born professionals in the game and New Hampshire Golf is thrilled to see him competing back in his home state.

Rounding out the trio is David Pastore, the 2017 champion. Pastore, a former college golfer at the University of Virginia, has continued to compete at a high level across various tours and brings a powerful, well-rounded game to this year’s field.

The championship will be contested on the North Course at Bretwood, a 6,900-yard layout known for its wide fairways, challenging greens, and picturesque setting along the Ashuelot River. Designed to test every aspect of a player’s game, the North Course rewards strategic shot-making and precision, particularly on its stretch of risk-reward par 5s and demanding par 3s.

Tournament Director Kinsey Hoffmann expressed her excitement for both the field and the venue saying, “We’re thrilled to welcome such a strong group of players to the New Hampshire Open this year. Having three past champions back in the field, especially with Jason Thresher defending his title, adds a special layer of excitement.”

She also emphasized the quality of this year’s host course stating, “Bretwood’s North Course is one of the most respected championship venues in New Hampshire. It’s always in fantastic condition and presents a great balance of scoring opportunities and demanding holes. Players know they’ll need every part of their game to be sharp if they want to contend.”

The New Hampshire Open remains one of the premier open championships in New England, annually attracting top professionals and amateurs from across the region and beyond. The championship will take place over three days where 144 golfers will be teeing it up each of the first two days with a cut to the low 40 and ties for the final round. With a mix of experienced champions and emerging contenders, the 2025 edition promises three days of exciting and high-caliber golf.
