Concord, NH – The Mid-Amateur and Senior Match Play Championships kicked off the knockout stages in thrilling fashion at Beaver Meadow Golf Course, as both Round of 16 brackets delivered a mix of dominant performances, nail-biting finishes, and bracket-shaking upsets. Mid-Amateur Match Play

The Round of 16 at the Mid-Amateur Match Play Championship provided a thrilling day of golf, marked by dramatic finishes, clutch performances, and a handful of upsets as competitors battled for spots in the quarterfinals.

Top-seeded Jalen Rines led the charge with a 2 and 1 victory over Brett Bosse, advancing confidently to the next round. Rines, the 1 seed for the second-straight year, showcased steady play from start to finish, even when Bosse put the pressure on, playing some of his best golf.  Bosse’s solid play forced Rines to need to make the birdie putts to win holes.

In one of the day’s most intense matches, Branden Porter edged Jeff Sovis in 19 holes, surviving a back-and-forth contest to book his place in the quarters.  Austin Cassady, the No. 4 seed, was pushed to the limit by Matthew Bagdovitz, ultimately prevailing in extra holes to secure a hard-fought win.

The bracket saw its first major upset when Robert Boulanger, seeded 12th, defeated 5-seed Sean Fitzgerald 3 and 2, delivering a composed and confident performance throughout the match.  Meanwhile, second seed Connor Greenleaf turned in the most dominant performance of the day, cruising to an 8 and 6 win over Chris Mansfield.  Greenleaf demonstrated today why he has claimed a New Hampshire Amateur title, one of the toughest competitions to win here in New Hampshire.  And Ricky Dichard, the 10 seed, continued the day’s trend of lower seeds advancing, knocking out 7-seed Matt Moore 4 and 2 in convincing fashion.

On the lower half of the bracket, No. 3 seed and defending champion, Harvin Groft stayed in form with a 2 and 1 win over Matthew Burke, while Alex Gambordella capped off the round with a tight 2 up victory over Aaron Loring.

With the field now narrowed to eight, the stage is set for an exciting quarterfinal round. Matchups feature a compelling mix of top contenders and underdog stories, all vying for the 2025 Mid-Amateur Match Play title.
