Concord, NH – The 2025 Four Ball Match Play Championship concluded at Beaver Meadow Golf Course with thrilling Semifinal and Final matches that showcased elite shot-making, clutch putting, and plenty of drama. It came down to defending champions Mat Gover and Russell Hamel against the No. 2 seeded team of Brett Wilson and Dan Mulkern. Wilson and Mulkern won three-straight on the back nine to close out the match 3&2 for their first Four Ball Match Play title.
In the Semifinals, defending champions Mat Gover and Russell Hamel continued their strong play by defeating the No. 1 seeded duo of Andrew Surprenant and James Shattuck by a margin of 4&2. Across the 16 holes played, both sides lit up the scorecard. Gover and Hamel went 10-under par while Surprenant and Shattuck carded 6-under, highlighting the high level of play in the match.
The other Semifinal featured a nail-biting battle between the No. 2 seeds Brett Wilson and Dan Mulkern against Steve Lane and Ricky Dichard. The teams traded blows throughout the round, with the match coming down to the final hole. On the 18th green, Wilson calmly rolled in a birdie putt to secure a 1up victory and a spot in the championship match.
The final matchup brought together Wilson & Mulkern against the defending champions, Gover & Hamel. Wilson struck first with an eagle on the par-5 2nd hole, before Gover answered back on the 5th with a near drive of the green and a birdie conversion. Gover & Hamel added another win on the 7th hole to go 1up before an hour-long weather delay halted play.
When play resumed, Wilson & Mulkern surged ahead by winning the 9th and 10th holes to flip the match back in their favor. Hamel & Gover fought back with a birdie on 11 to tie the match once again, but Wilson & Mulkern delivered a decisive stretch of golf late. They won three consecutive holes, 14, 15, and 16, to close out the match 3&2 and claim the Four Ball Match Play Championship title.
With the victory, Wilson and Mulkern dethroned the defending champions and capped off an impressive run through the bracket with steady teamwork and timely execution under pressure. Starting out as the No. 2 seeds for match play, the pair worked their way through the bracket, facing tough competitors along the way, and showed why they are worthy of being crowned champions.
