Bethlehem, NH – Bryce Zimmerman of Nashua Country Club carded a scorching 4-under-par 68 to take medalist honors at the New Hampshire Amateur Qualifier held at The Maplewood Golf Club. 12 golfers shooting 77 (+5) or better have earned their spots into the 122nd New Hampshire Amateur Championship presented by Davis & Towle Insurance with support from Johnnie Walker.
Zimmerman, fresh off a strong performance at the New Hampshire Open, put together an impressive round marked by consistency and clutch play. After making the turn at 1-under 35 which included birdies on his opening two holes, he turned up the pressure on the back nine with a bogey-free 3-under 33, finishing strong with a birdie on 14 and an eagle on the par-6 16th hole at The Maplewood.
Through his round he carded just a single bogey, which came on the par-4 6th hole. Otherwise, he was steady and efficient, hitting fairways and converting opportunities when they counted most.
Just behind him was Ryan Waring of Canterbury Woods Country Club, who shot a 3-under 69 to take solo second. Waring, who played a steady front nine making the turn at even par, really turned on te jet as he made four consecutive birdies from holes 14 to 17 to get himself to 3-under-par. Kyle Wallace of Manchester Country Club joined Zimmerman and Waring in the red as he finished at 1-under-par 71 which was highlighted by a hole out for eagle on the par-4 5th hole.
A playoff was needed to determine the final three qualifying golfers. Seven players at 77 (+5) entered a playoff with Wade Thompson, Noah LeClair and Austin Cassady claiming the last spots in a three-hole playoff. These 12 golfers will join those who are already qualified and those exempt in the New Hampshire Amateur being played at Rochester Country Club in two weeks.
